This course is for operators with knowledge of the use and operation of a lift truck, but has not been previously tested in their operating skills.
It is a legal requirement under the Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974, that all people who operate Lift Trucks should be correctly trained in their safe use.
The course gives the operator candidates the practical and theoretical skills to operate a lift truck safely and efficiently. The course culminates in test of both theoretical knowledge and practical skills and the candidate must achieve the required level before receiving a certificate of basic training.
The course lasts between 1-4 days depending on experience, requirements and number of candidates.
Course Content
Starting, stopping and parking safely
Manoeuvring in confined areas
Load handling
Stacking/De-stacking
Racking systems (if applicable)
Vehicle loading/unloading
Pre Use inspection of the truck
Refuelling/Charging
Theory & Practical testing
Maximum of 3 candidates per day
Each successful candidate will receive a Certificate of Basic Training
